I’ll make this short and sweet folks. There is much to come. I’m hoping to have a very different and hopefully very cool blog post soon. Hopefully it works out. Otherwise I have built up immense expectations for nothing:

The pain in both hamstrings is still there but a scheduled massage is on the cards tomorrow and it should hold up.

After one last hurrah last weekend in terms of socialising, I had 3 weeks and 2 days to get beer out of my system and get water and the appropriate fuel in (not that I have a clue what the correct stuff is but it’s not alcohol. It might be avocados, lemon water, positivity and clouds).

Training undertaken:

10km on Monday which was good considering the share price of German beer went up over the weekend.

Core session on Tuesday.

13 mile taper run last Saturday which went well and was completed in 1:48.50 so probably a touch fast with the aim of crossing the ¾ mark at 2:45 ish.

Present situation as it stands:

Hamstring update on Tuesday. It should hold ok. No need to sit on the edge of your seats guys. Relax.

Water is dull. I’m over it.

Running makes you really good at Maths (when hydrated – not so much at the end of a race)

It’s still difficult to know how to taper to your requirements.

Washing and drying clothes is amazingly repetitive and mind-numbingly boring. The share price of Ariel & Comfort has also risen. If I wasn’t taking a running break after this I’d advise you to invest heavily.

Marathon strategy:

1st Quarter – 53-55 mins

2nd Quarter – 53-55 mins

3rd Quarter – 53-55 mins

4th – to be decided – if lucky enough to have 1:15 left for the last quarter, this should be enough for the 4 hour marathon (taking agony, cramp & sobbing into consideration).

Current state of mind:

A healthy mixture of excitement and impatience. Must remember it’s all in the head.
